Great Northern Puzzle.

An early and rare 1880s example of the classic Railway Shunting Puzzle (see Hordern "Sliding Piece Puzzles" p.168). W.W.Rose-Ball bought his in 1883 or 1884. The box is somewhat damaged but the main artwork on the lid remains a great piece of steam railway art and the puzzle is good.

ANCIENT STAR PROBLEM PUZZLE

Some excellent solitaire type peg jumping puzzles.

Made in USA in 1949 by Reflex Products in Ohio. Complex Solitaire problems. Some pegs missing but could be easily substituted by nails or matchsticks. Rare lithographed tin in Card box. With facsimile instructions and competition rules, Original problem sheet with nearly 100 puzzles, and original competition entry sheet.

A most interesting puzzle. Get Pig from start into Sty by moving diagonally OR overleaping TWO pieces orthogonally.  This is an exact Hoffmann Puzzle chapter 10 puzzle 2.  Some replacement pieces.

THE SIEGE OF LONDON. 

Extremely rare octostar variant. Registration No suggests 1889 but possibly dating from the suspicions about German intentions prior to WW!.  Perhaps produced around the same time as William Le Queux's 1906 book "The Invasion of 1910 with a Full Account of the Siege of London".

Box  is in very good conditions  Instructions as new. The map has split along the crease and was at some time taped on the back - Mercifully the tape has fallen off and the residue left has dried without any significant stain showing through to the front.

Features in Slocum's "Puzzles Old & New" but without the history.
