THE PASSIVE RESISTER PUZZLE

The glass bead must be manipulated onto the fixed pin.

An unusual dexterity puzzle revealing some largely forgotten social history.

There was a great protest movement against the Education Act of 1902.

Non-conformists, Secularists, Catholics, Liberals and many other dissenting people objected to the manner in which it gave undue power the the Church of England.

Sir George White, Liberal MP for North-West Norfolk (1900-1912) made a famous address on the ‘Nonconformist Conscience in its relation to our National Life’ reiterating the canon of dissenting politics – temperance, non-sectarian education, housing, land reform, and the iniquities of the Anglican church and the House of Lords.

An obituary of one Passive Resister.
